JOB DESCRIPTION

Part Time Prep Cook

Position Summary:

The Carnation Farms Culinary Team is looking to advance our production and event capacity.  The Part Time Prep Cook is a 20-25 hr/week position. Typically M-F, with some weekend availability.  Previous kitchen experience is required.  Preferred applicants possess basic knife skills, knowledge of food prep, and use of kitchen equipment.

Reports to: 

Culinary Director and Sous-Chef

Essential Functions:

  • Daily prep of foods for Farmstand products and Events
  • Assist with daily cleaning of cooking space
  • Participate in running industrial dish washing machine
  • Inspects facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with sanitation standards and to determine maintenance and repair requirements
  • Helps maintain inventory and quality in pantry, cold storage, and freezer

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a positive, reliable, responsible, and hardworking individual who has a strong desire to work with food on an organic farm. 

  • A minimum of 1-year commercial kitchen experience is preferred.  Willing to train the right applicant.
  • Food handlers card required.
  • Comfortable working with hot surfaces and sharp equipment.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for regenerative farm-to-table experiences.
  • Attention to detail is critical and a passion for working with food is essential. 
  • The ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the strong ability to work with a team of peers.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $20/hour
