JOB DESCRIPTION

Small Animal Processor Part-Time

Position Summary:
Small Animal Processing at Carnation Farms is the last stop for our humane, sustainable livestock production system. Processors are responsible for meeting all regulations and protocols for sanitary conditions, and for producing an appealing, packaged product ready for the customer, along with a life story we are proud to tell. Processing includes serving outside customers as well.

 Reports to:     Livestock Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Performing all phases of producing poultry,
    • Inspecting poultry in crates
    • Process in Dirty Room through cutting, draining, scalding, plucking, and gutting
    • Process in Clean Room through chilling, shrink bagging, drying, weighing, and labeling
    • Cleanup of both rooms at end of day to requirements
    • Dispose of waste in appropriate rendering containers
  • Monitor all temperatures and conditions of equipment used on each phase of processing
  • Safely and efficiently operate all equipment
  • Follow all documented procedures to ensure quality
  • Follow proper sanitation measures
  • Follows production deadlines
  • Availability to work to meet production deadlines; Flexible work schedule

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous poultry processing experience
  • Good work ethic, positive attitude
  • Works responsibly and independently, alone or in a team
  • Organized and follows directions well
  • Speaks, reads and writes English fluently
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass a Background check
  • Washington Food Handler’s Permit (Can obtain this on start date)
