Job Description

Part or Full Time Painter Position

The Painter position supports the facilities and operations team by providing internal, external, and trim painting, as well as contributing other skills and expertise to projects across the farm and its complex of historical buildings. We are looking to hire a full or part-time painter capable of project management, surface preparations, light repairs and carpentry, high quality internal finishing, small and large-scale external painting, staining, and signage, as well as  help with general construction projects and seasonal maintenance. To be successful, you should be able to distinguish between various finishes, prepare an area, be able to select and apply the appropriate primers and paints, and be familiar with a variety of sprayers and application equipment. Ultimately, an exceptional painter should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner and within budget constraints. Painter Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Assessing existing structures and surfaces and preparing them for painting
  • Neatly and consistently applying internal and external sealants and caulks
  • Conducting minor interior and external repairs on surfaces with support
  • Brush, roll and spray on a number of materials neatly and consistently
  • Assess and address issues with the quality of finished products and look
  • Contributing to construction and operations projects of all types
  • Performing cleanups of job sites by clearing away all debris and waste
  • Full time positions may be placed into a weekend “on-call” rotation in time

Painter Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of a GED and at least one year of experience in internal or external painting
  • A valid driver’s license, clear driving record, and reliable transportation to and from work
  • Sound knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and procedures
  • Physical strength, stamina, and the ability to repeatedly lift and carry 50 pounds
  • The ability to safely use hand and power tools, as well as work from a ladder or lift
  • Heightened attention to detail and follows direction with positive attitude
  • Willingness and curiosity to learn, self-starter, keeps busy with useful tasks
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Entry-level project planning and time management skills
  • Ability to Stand, walk, or work in diverse indoor/outdoor conditions for 8+ hours
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
