Empowering teens to become agents of change in the food system
through meaningful work and relevant education.

Rooted at Carnation Farms is a 7-week paid summer program. Teens work together on our 15-acre certified organic farm, gaining first-hand knowledge of the joys and challenges of farming. Through workshops and service learning projects, teens become equipped to use their unique voices, talents, and skills to rethink a liberated food system.

We bring together teens from diverse backgrounds and experiences from throughout the Snoqualmie Valley and Greater Seattle, who form deep bonds to each other and to the land. Teens currently in grades 9-11 are eligible to apply.

“To me, Rooted means community and purpose. Rooted also encompasses so many things I’m passionate about, including food justice, sustainable agriculture, and ethics in the food system. Learning about these things gives me a sense of purpose, as well as inspiring me to take the initiative to incorporate what I’ve learned into my own life and spread it to others.”
